Leica Ultilty Locator Trace Sondes Options. Sondes are self-contained transmitters that are used with our cable and pipe locators to locate underground plastic water, gas, and other non-magnetic utilities. Typically, sondes are moved along a pipe while attached to a Flexrod, and their positions are then determined from above ground.
